Are You Getting Enough Sleep?



It?s estimated that we spend about one third of our lives tucked up in bed, fast asleep. But if we lead busy lives where nothing ever seems to get done without involving us rushing in some way, a good night?s sleep is usually the first thing that suffers.

Take this quiz to work out if you are getting enough sleep at the moment, and then check your answers to see what group you fall into. Making sure you get plenty of rest often depends on getting your priorities right, and this quiz will help you identify how good you are at doing just that.

1.    How many hours do you usually sleep at night?
I need eight, but I usually get seven

My optimum amount of sleep seems to be about seven to eight hours, so I make sure that?s what I get

2.    Is your sleep pattern wildly different at the weekends to how it is during the week?

4.    Do you have a set time to go to bed each night?
Not really, but I?m generally in bed between ten and eleven on most nights

5.    Do you normally fall asleep very quickly or do you find yourself staying awake for ages?
Depends what?s on my mind. Normally I?m okay but sometimes I don?t wind down properly
No, I?m asleep within ten to fifteen minutes of getting in bed
I get the occasional bad night but usually I drift off fairly quickly
Sometimes I?m shattered and I don?t even remember getting in bed. Other times I lay awake for ages


6.    If you have things to do, do you often stay up late so you can get them all done?
Yes I do that, but I never stay up beyond midnight

No ? I have too much to do
I try but I normally end up going to bed at the same sort of time as I always do

All the time
Sometimes, but it?s not due to lack of sleep!

Yes but I manage

Sometimes if I?m at home, yes

12.    Do you struggle to get up in the mornings?
Sometimes but I?m usually okay
No, I get up quite easily. Most of the time I wake up before the alarm goes off
